NORTHERLY... LOW LEVEL AIR HAS PRODUCED A RARE SNOWSTORM ACROSS THE LOWER ELEVATIONS OF THE MOHAVE DESERT... INCLUDING THE LAS VEGAS VALLEY. THIS SNOWSTORM WILL PRODUCE SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS TO THE LAS VEGAS VALLEY AS 3 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW ARE LIKELY AT MOST LOCATIONS INCLUDING THE LAS VEGAS STRIP. HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE...
PARTICULARLY ACROSS THE WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE VALLEY WHERE TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO 10 INCHES ARE FORECAST.

THE SNOW BEGAN TO FALL ACROSS MUCH OF THE LAS VEGAS VALLEY EARLY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. THIS WILL LIKELY BE THE BIGGEST SNOWSTORM TO IMPACT LAS VEGAS SINCE 1979... WHEN 7.8 INCHES OF SNOW WAS MEASURED AT MCCARRAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.

Maybe not big news to some...but for our boys and us it was great news!!! So we decided to take advantage of this crazy weather and play in the snow!

Yikes!!! Has it actually been over a month without posting...wow... but I do have a few good excuses as to why I haven't gotten on. Nothing is worse than trying to enjoy the HOliDays when the whole family is sick. It has now officially been two weeks and we still have the throw-ups, fever, sore throats, and coughs....my poor kids still haven't seen any of our Christmas decorations up yet because none of us feel well enough to do it. Hopefully there will be some light at the end of this dark tunnel and we can enjoy the rest of our December!

Last week the fam and I took another trip to St. George to celebrate my Dad's 50th and let the boys go trick-or-treating with their aunties and friends. It was definitely a busy week it went by way too fast for the boys and I but was glad to have my hubby home with us for the weekend...anyhow I wanted to share some of our highlights from the past week:)

On Monday my good friend Lesina was nice enough to let me take some pics of her gorgeous little fam with the new Nikon...thanks girly it was lots of fun!!

On Tuesday night my Dad's ward had their annual trunk or treat and the boys were so excited to go. For Halloween this year Trey was determined to be the pirate that he was two years ago and this year I think it fit him just perfect even though he hated the little scar and mustache I drew on his face and Ry was so excited to be a boxer. If anyone knows this little guy you know that he loves to punch he will put on my oven mitt and walk around the house punching anything in his site, so this costume was perfect for him! The trunk or treat was so much fun because Segi and Lesina's kids came along and my boys were so happy because they both have crushes on their girls!! Luv it!!

Friday of course was Halloween we went trick or treating in three different neigh boor hoods...and I don't know if it's just me...but it seemed liked this year hardly anyone was out:(

Oh well, we still had fun anyways!

For my Dad's birthday the one gift that he wanted was a metal detector..haha...don't ask me why but he got just what he wanted. So on Saturday the whole family headed out to Pinto, there is a very old cemetery there where my Dad has found alot of his relatives buried and close to the cemetary there was once a little thriving town so we thought that would be the perfect place to try out his new "toy"!! With his metal detector he found an old bottle cap, a bullet and the best one was when he had Doug use a pick and shovel to dig out what they were hoping to be like an old wagon wheel or something but turns out Doug was hammering away on a natural gas line under ground!! Had to laugh at that one!

Later on that night we had Troy and Segi's family over to roast some marshmallows out in fire pit and afterward we watched Nacho Libre...gotta luv that movie!!

Last but not least, Sunday after church we had a bbq before heading home to Las Vegas!!

The Filipe family is proud to announce that we no longer buy diapers!! Doug and I have been changing diapers for close to four years and it has now officially been a month since we have changed a diaper!! Wahoo!! "We"..uh..let me rephrase that "I" wasn't planning on potty training Ry for another few months and by some miracle he decided he was ready to go on the "BIg BOy ToiLet" and after two weeks of persistent work with him he is a proud owner of Deigo undies! Gotta Luv It!!

Well...it's official...we just heard our first gun shot while eating dinner tonight (that was comforting) and last week we had two cops come knocking on our door in the middle of the day warning us about a suspicious person in the neighborhood. Oh...the joys of Vegas life!!

Yesterday while Trey was supposedly taking his nap I kept hearing his music book go off and him talkin to himself, I was about to go in there and get after him for not sleeping when he informed me he was rehearsing his new song that he had made up. Since it was such a cute little song I thought I'd better catch it on camera!!

I saw this at the store yesterday and I had to buy. Fall is my most favorite season so anything that involves pumpkins and spices I'm all for. This ice cream tastes like someone scooped the pumpkin pie filling out of the crust and mixed it in with some cream. The taste was pretty awesome but very rich, Ry and I were hurting after our big bowl! The worst part is that I woke up at 3:30 in the morning thinking I should put some cool whip on top and maybe it would calm down the flavor, now that I am fully awake I'm realizing that if I am thinking about cool whip and ice cream that early in the morning it is definitely a danger sign to slow down on the food intake!

Wow...it has definitely been a good while since I have updated on the happenins!! First off, we just moved into our new home a little over a month ago and absolutely love it! The reason being for moving out of our rental was because it was infested with SCORPIONS...I was finding at least two or three a week inside the house. Needless to say, every night I was having anxiety attacks worrying that my boys who love to run through our house bare foot, was going to end up in the emergency room because of stepping on one. The breaking point was when I went into my closet one afternoon to put my shoes on and a scorpion fell out, landed on my foot, and then scurried off. I have never screamed so loud and so long in my entire life, in fact now that I think about it, I had a sore throat for a good two days afterwards. Anyways, that was when I told my husband we were getting out of this arachnophobia nightmare ASAP. Luckily, we were able to get out of our lease early and found a perfect little house, bug free, and am finally enjoying feeling at ease during the night:)

Who would ever have thought that by living in Vegas it would bring out the crafty side in me, I was never the one to be sewing, painting, or heaven forbid using a hot glue gun but now, that's all I find myself doing. My new obsessions for the moment are creating vinyl lettering's for my home which I have all over the place (thanks to the fact that my mom has the most awesome vinyl letting machine) and my sis in law Melinda and I have just started getting into the craze of making those cute little headbands with the big flowers for little girls and babies..don't ask me why I'm making them since I only have boys but they are so fun to make and seriously I have been to Michael's and Joan's Fabric so many times that half the employees know me by name...hehehe...I love it! I have come to the conclusion though, that since it is so much harder(if that is even a word) to meet WHOLESOME people out here I have found myself at home much more than usual, and with all that spare time it has brought out some hidden talents that I never knew I had:)

Lastly but not least, I'm also very excited that my Dougi finally has weekends off now! Since living in Vegas he has worked every Saturday and sometimes Sunday to keep up with the demand of building casinos out here. Any who, his schedule has changed for the time being and we can finally have our Daddy home more often!! YEAH!!

Lucky for me!!!!! I have been able to spend another fun week in St. George, my dad bought my mom an awesome camera for her birthday so I decided I was going to try it out for her and take some pics of my three younger sisters; Aubrey, AshLynn and Alise! The camera was amazing I want one desperately...but anyways here are my favs (as always there are a million pics)!!

So I just finished watching Brigham City, I haven't watched that movie since it came out and lets just say now I know why I haven't watched it for a while...not that it was a bad movie or anything...I just didn't agree with the whole sacrament prayer and baptism prayer on a movie (just didn't feel right to me)...almost sacrilegious! But anyways it did get my heart racin a few times especially when Peg's boyfriend sits up in her car and scares the crap out of her....lets just say that would be my worst nightmare to have somebody pop up from the backseat of your car!! Overall, a good movie but don't know if I would watch again for another few years.

4 YEARS and Countin Baby!!!!!

Today we are celebrating Our 4th year Anniversary, we were married June 12, 2004 in the St. George Temple and I think it's safe to say that we had the most perfect ceremony followed by the most beautiful reception, held in my parent's backyard! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect man for me to spend eternity with and on that note I wanted to do a little shout-out to my hubby, "Happy Anniversary Honey! Thanks for being the BEST husband and friend anyone could ever ask for, I love ya and can't wait to see what the future holds for us over the next fifty years or more, so Thank You for being you!"

It really is hard to believe that we have been together for 4 years, it seems like just yesterday I was eyeballin him from the weight room and thinkin man...I've got a mad crush on this poly boy (hehehe) so in lieu of our anniversary I thought I'd share some photos of us two from over the years. On Sunday when I woke up I noticed I had a small lump on the back of my head right by my hairline..I didn't think much about it other than it was a little irritating, by Tuesday it was hardly noticeable. Well, today when I woke up the whole left side of my head starting from my hairline to my ear felt very bruised and within an hour another lump showed up! Needless to say, I made my husband come home early from work and drove myself to the Urgent Care, the whole time I was driving I was thinking oh geez...if this is a blood clot or if the doctor tells me I only have 10 days to live...I gotta award myself for having the worst stinkin luck! So anyways, the doctor diagnosed those little lumps as Lymph Nodes...hmmmm...interesting...I don't know anything about them other than he said not to worry and for me to stop looking up possible diagnosis for myself on the Internet and that they should hopefully go away in a few weeks. Thanks goodness!! Just curious though, has anyone else ever had this??

BUSY WEEKEND

This weekend while we were in St. George we got to celebrate Doug's big 28!! It was nice cause it was very low key and Doug got to relax all day!

I guess too much partying results in sleepy boys!!

On Sunday after church we stopped by Carsen and Lesina's house to hang out for a while. Needless to say, Traiden was very excited to see his girlfriend Fiti, he is always tellin me how he misses his girlfriend and when ever we go shopping we have to go the girl toy section so he can look at "girl toys" to give Fiti. I know...I know..maybe we are match making a little too early...but it's so stinkin cute how they act together!!

Our family loves fishing...I have been fishing for as long as can remember, so for Memorial Day we decided to go fishing in Enterprise. Bright and early at 5:30 a.m. we left to go, it was so much fun the boys absolutely love fishing and playing outside other than the fact it was 34 degrees and hailing in Enterprise, so by noon after all of us were drenched we headed home! I cant ask for better weekends then to spend time with my family and enjoy everyone being happy!!!

oh yes .... and most importantly...I read all three of the Twilight series (how did I not know about these books earlier) lets just say I cant wait till August!

Can I just say I love this store!! My sister and I discovered we had a Whole Foods Market a mile away from my house and it has to be my new favorite place to shop, everything is organic even down to the root beer. The sad part about my discovery is that I haven't been able to try the food that I've bought because my trainer wanted me to go on the Master Cleanse diet. I started the cleanse on Monday and it consists of only drinking a mixture of fresh squeezed lemons, cayenne pepper and maple syrup. I was supposed to do the cleanse for seven days but only lasted four so I ended it tonight because I was getting so sick of that drink (but lost 8lbs) . All I know is that I'm super excited to go shopping there tomorrow and finally get to eat the food that I buy!

Also, I just discovered that my boys absolutely love these nuts, they are soy nuts that I bought from the Whole Foods market. The soy nuts are super healthy for you and high in fiber and seriously they eat it like it's popcorn. It's always nice to find a healthier snack that my boys will eat rather than feeding them cheezits all day long!

Digital Scrapbooking

Ok so I feel in love with digital scrapbooking in February and it has taken up all my free time! I am constantly on line looking for the next cute freebie (which I am so surprised that my computer hasn't crashed on me with all the downloading I'm doing) and trying to take a million pics of my kids. Since February I have made close to 200 and I haven't even printed one out yet to see if they even look decent....so I figure I might as well start posting them on my blog that way it will give me a sense of accomplishment that I'm not doing this all for myself..lol!! Hello Everyone!!!!

Since this being our first official post n all I thought I'd share a lil somethin about us! We just recently relocated to the Green Valley area in Henderson, NV. We were so blessed to have my husband land the most amazing job so in that aspect we are very happy, because he is home more and has to work less and the money is great. But it has been pretty hard for the boys n I to adjust living here. I really took advantage of how wonderful a place St. George was till we moved. So...being the baby that I am I still have to at least make a trip to St. George once a month to keep my sanity. We are renting right now and my husband and I are deciding whether or not to buy a house towards the end of the summer. I don't know about you but it scares me to death to think about buying a home...so for now it is still up in the air. Wow if that wasn't the most exciting post ever!!
